Coronavirus: No international passenger aircraft will land until midnight on April 14 in the country

The ban on international flights has been extended from 29 March to 14 April. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation, or DGCA, took this decision on Thursday. Earlier, the DGCA banned these flights from 23 March to 29 March. The DGCA said in its decision, 'On March 19, a circular was issued about suspending international flight operations. Now the ban period is being done till 12 pm on 14 April. This restriction will not apply to cargo flights.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced a 21-day nationwide lockdown. He said that it is necessary to break the chain of coronavirus. In view of this lockdown, DGCA has extended the ban period on international flights. Earlier, on 12 March, the Central Government had decided to cancel all visa applications. All visa applications were rejected from 12 pm on 13 March until 15 April.
India is connected to 80 cities in 55 countries by international flights.
The main international airports in India are Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Kochi, Kolkata, Chennai and Hyderabad. Apart from these, international flights are also available from around 20 airports in the country. These airports can reach 80 cities from 55 countries. According to a report in February 2019, around 32 crore international passengers use these flights in a year in the country.
What closed in the country?
1. Flights
The Center has banned all international flights till 14 April. Along with this, domestic flights are also closed. On average, 13 million passengers a month and 14 crore passengers travel on domestic flights annually.
2. Trains
As of April 14, 12500 passenger trains will remain closed due to the lockdown. That is, no trains will run except freight trains. This decision means that 23 million people traveling through these trains will not be able to go anywhere.
3. Metro Services - Inter-State Buses
The cabinet secretary had instructed the chief secretaries of all states that metro services and interstate buses should also be stopped. It also includes Delhi Metro, due to which about two crore people travel daily. Due to the lockdown, this ban will also remain till 14 April.
